Thanks for a great weekend of the all ladies fishing classic, we 'cat fish queens with barra dreams' had a blast and will differently be back again next year...

Well done, Bev Yeah that's a big call to kick off a comp, especially with those extra barriers. Anyone who's done a few comps would appreciate all the work that's involved - Good luck with it all.
Rick

Game Fishing Classic

Join the thrill of the Gold Coast Ladies Game Fishing Classic with the focus on encouraging ladies of all ages, from the novice to experienced angler to participate in this fun event. This is the first ladies only game fishing tournament to be held on the Gold Coast.

The Tournament will be staged from the prestigious Southport Yacht Club on Friday the 2nd March 2012.  The venue offers first class meals while enjoying the fabulous views over the Broadwater and Marina.  The Club will provide secure berths on a raft-up basis right in front of the clubhouse, as well as a secure hardstand for trailer boat vessels.

Early March is a fantastic time to fish Gold Coast waters, with juvenile Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Wahoo, Spanish Mackerel, Tuna and other game species being readily available.  The Gold Coast is a world renowned tourist destination and offers some of the best offshore and inshore fishing on the east coast.

The tournament is Tag & Release of Billfish and Other Game fish.  Two line classes will be fished, Light 8kg, 10kg, 15kg and Heavy 24kg, 37kg, 60kg.  Points will be scored accordingly.

The program of events includes a welcome and finger food on Thursday night followed by the pre-tournament briefing. There will be an auction of fishing tackle followed by the Calcutta. This is where teams bid for the winning boat of the tournament.

The Sailpast from the Southport Yacht Club on Friday morning will see the anglers and boats dressed to the nines all vying for the Best Decorated Boat prize.

Fishing will commence at 7.30am and cease at 4pm. Celebrations conclude with a fabulous dinner and awards presentation while enjoying some of the wonderful footage from the Sailpast and fishing.
